An Iowa native who served as a cast member and co-writer for the 2013-14 season of Saturday Night Live, touring comedian Brooks Wheelan headlines a special November 8 evening at Davenport's Raccoon Motel, the funnyman's additional credits including a vocal performance in the Oscar-winning Big Hero 6 and acting as the opener for numerous sets by Emmy winner John Oliver.

Examining the accomplishments of one of European history's most noted leaders, as well as the controversies surrounding them, the German American Heritage Center's in-person presentation New Thoughts on Old Fritz: Frederick the Great of Prussia will take place on November 5, with Augustana College professor Dr. David Ellis discussing the ruler known for his military successes in the Silesian wars, his reorganization of the Prussian Army, and his patronage of the arts and the Enlightenment.

A traditional Mexican holiday inviting families to honor the lives of their loved ones and show appreciation for cultural traditions, Dia de los Muertos will be celebrated in the second-annual parade hosted by Group Õ, with Mercado on Fifth also hosting pre- and after-parties in conjunction with the October 28 event in downtown Moline.

On November 1, in a special online program presented by Davenport's German American Heritage Center, author and historian Russell Baldner will speak on Martin Luther and His Seminal Translation of the New Testament, an illustrated lecture featuring a rich visual component from numerous Luther sites in Germany.
